Conditions of Hijab

[Rose]A wide enough dress that does not outline any part of the body.  The ideal way to do this is to wear a cloak over other clothes.

[Rose]It should cover the whole body.

[Rose]The clothing must be thick enough so as not to show the color of skin it covers or the shape of the body.

The Prophet (SAW) said that in later generations of his ummah there would be, "women who would be dressed but naked and on top of their head (what looks like) camel's humps.  Curse them, for they are cursed." (Muslim)

[Rose]The clothing should not attract men's attention to the woman.  It should not be flashy or shiny so that everyone notices the dress and the woman.

[Rose]A dress that does not look similar to men's wear, for Muslim women are prohibited from looking like men.

The Prophet (SAW) cursed the men who looked like women, and the women who appreared like men. (Bukhari)

[Rose]A dress that does not in any way resemble the dress of the disbelievers.

[Rose]The clothing should be modest, not excessively fancy and also not excessively ragged to gain others admiration or sympathy.

[Rose]The clothing should be free of any perfume or fragrance.
