"God is He Who has created the heavens and the earth and sends down water (rain) from the sky, and thereby brought forth fruits as provision for you; and He has made the ships to be of service to you, that they may sail through the sea by His command; and He has made rivers (also) to be of service to you. And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you; and He has made the night and the day, to be of service to you." (Quran 14:32-33)
The essential purpose for which humankind was created is to worship God. Worship means the performance of devotional acts in honor of a deity. According to this meaning, man has been created to show gratitude to God by glorifying Him. In glorifying God, man chooses to be in harmony with the rest of creation which naturally glorifies its Creator. Consequently, worship according to the final revelation means 'obedient submission to the will of God.' This was the essence of the message of all the prophets sent by God (visit Prophets Mentioned in Quran) to humankind. For example, this understanding of worship was emphatically expressed by Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) in the Gospel according to Matthew 7:21: "None of those who call me 'Lord' will enter the kingdom of God, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven."
Please note that "will" in this quote means 'what God wants human beings to do', because nothing happens in creation without the will (permission) of God. The 'Will of God' is contained in the divinely revealed laws which the prophets taught their followers. Consequently, obedience to divine law is the foundation of worship. In this sense, glorification also becomes worship when humans choose to obey God's instructions regarding His glorification.
The most complete system of worship available to human beings today is the system found in the religion of Islam. The very name 'Islam' means 'submission to the will of God.' It is the religion brought by all the prophets of God for humankind. Islam was the religion of Adam, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them). The religion of Islam is the complete acceptance of and obedience to the teachings of God, which He revealed to His last Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him). One who follows Islam is called a Muslim.
Muslims believe in One, Unique, Incomparable God, who has no son, no daughter, no wife, no partner and that NONE has the right to be worshipped but God ALONE. The final revelation is called the Quran. The Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) in the year 610. Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) was a direct decendant of Prophet Abraham (pbuh).
Muslims respect and revere Jesus (pbuh) as one of the mightiest messengers of God. Neither Muhammed (pbuh) nor Jesus (pbuh) came to change the basic doctrine of the belief in One God, brought by earlier prophets from Adam to Moses (pbut), but rather they came to confirm and renew it.
Anyone can become a Muslim simply by saying and believing in ones heart, "None has the right to be worshipped besides God and Muhammed (pbuh) is the last slave and messenger of God." Upon becoming a Muslim ones previous sins are all washed away and one comes to Islam like a new born baby. (Please read The Confession).
"Truly, the religion in the sight of God is Islam..." (Quran, Al-Imran 3:19)
"And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers." (Quran, Al-Imran 3:85)
